A syringe does one thing acceptably. A dial does it exactly.

The Allstar holds a sealed 3mL cartridge, dials in 0.1mL increments, and fires the same volume every time you press the button. No counting units on a plunger at 6am.

The 31G 4mm needle is finer than a standard insulin needle, which matters when the protocol is daily. Between uses the cartridge stays sealed inside the pen, which is cleaner than an open vial and a loose needle.

The four steps

  1. Fill the cartridge. Use a draw-up tip to transfer your reconstituted solution into a refillable 3mL cartridge.
  2. Load the pen. Insert the cartridge and attach a new 31G 4mm needle.
  3. Dial the dose. Turn the dial to the exact unit volume your research protocol calls for.
  4. Deliver. Press the button. Replace the needle and store the pen.

The fill step is the one place a protocol usually gets messy. The draw-up tip threads through the cartridge cap, so the solution goes in cleanly with no exposed needle and no spill onto the pen mechanism. Once the cartridge is sealed inside the pen, the only thing that touches the liquid is the fresh pen needle you attach for each dose.

Care and handling

Wipe the pen exterior with a damp cloth if needed. Keep it dry and at room temperature. Replace the pen needle after every use and never store the pen with a needle attached. Check the cartridge for air bubbles before dialling and prime per your protocol.

New to reconstitution? Use the calculator and guide first, then fill your first cartridge.
